From ISKCON Melbourne: Yesterday Prahladananda Maharaja accepted Bhakta Tim as his disciple, giving him the name Tirthapada dasa.

We all hope he achieves the goal of human life, and follows the example of his Guru Maharaja in reviving his service relationship with the Holy Name.
Here is a slide show of the highlights of the initiation ceremony and fire sacrifice.
See you at Ratha Yatra

Melbourne, Australia

I have been here in Melbourne, Australia for over a week, which lately is a long time for me to spend in one place.  The article that was recently published on the “Sampradaya Sun” was written by me about 4 or 5 years ago for the European Leadership and Management meeting that takes place each year.  The idea was not to criticize the leadership of ISKCON, but to see ways of improving it.

Upon arriving in Melbourne, I went to the New Nandagram farm about 2 hours away and give a yoga seminar with lectures on Krishna consciousness to about 15-20 people.  As Kali-yuga progresses, we can only expect people to become more and more receptive to Krishna consciousness.

Tommorrow, I go to Sydney and to the project at Govinda Valley where I will give lectures to the devotees and teach them some yoga.  This year I passed my certification test for Iyengar yoga.

Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada,

Prahladananda Swami

Another Aussie Journey. Sydney 17: New Year’s Eve 2009

By Madhavendra Puri Dasa

Thursday 31st, January 2009.
I awoke. It was the final day of the year so there was some means to celebrate, at least sentimentally. Prahladananda Swami gave a brilliant class. It was so witty and impacting that, at the end, everyone was speechless. The sweetness only continued when, after class, Mahavana gave me some honey coconut balls (one of my favourite)….

Prahladananda Swami Yoga Retreat: 1st – 3rd January 2010

The Hare Krishna Valley in Bambra was the setting for last weekend’s yoga retreat conducted by Prahladananda Swami. This 3-days program was organised by Vraja Nari Dasi and the Urban Yoga crew and proved to be very successful.
PASretreat The first day featured a casual introduction of everyone and mantra meditation. The following day was action-packed: yoga session in the morning, elaborate breakfast, three and half hours bush-trek, copious lunch, a presentation on the practical application of yoga and meditation in a fast-pace life, sumptuous dinner followed by a movie night on the ‘Holy Ganges’ which was concluded by a heated spiritual debate. Sunday started with a yoga session, followed by a most beautiful breakfast after which those who were brave enough renewed the bush-trek adventure. Everyone gathered again around an elaborate Lebanese banquet followed by kirtan. By 5pm everyone was ready to cruise back to Melbourne after a memorable first-weekend-of-the-year.
Here are a few pictures giving an aperçu of the weekend!
